17 May 2008 ~ forty seven
I really wonder whose wonderful idea was it to have our concert two days before the RI Open House.

Four solid hours of running up and down our repertoire again has officially killed me, so it's lucky that Monday's a holiday. It must be the irony of ironies that just after Prometheum XII, which cost $10 a ticket, we are now giving free performances to the P6s and their parents - lucky people.

Anyway, I realise that this year's OH budget must have been very high, due to the mass hype over "185". There were posters and banners stuck everywhere; balloon arches and puffy streamers along the road; boards and red carpets along the sides of the atrium. There was even a special 185 gift bag as the customary bag that the school gives each P6 kid.

So there we were, performing from 8:30 AM all the way until about 12:30 PM in the solar furnace of the atrium. Most people were just passing by - I saw some turn their heads and listen for a bit, but the majority were on school tour, or attending talks, or just using the chairs provided to sort out their gift bag. Can't really blame them, because most parents want their kid to come to RI for the mugging education and not really the CCA. To them, CCA is the kind of "extra thing" which doesn't usually take precedence over studies, unless the kid got DSAed over or something.

About the performance itself, well, it was pretty much rubbish compared to Prometheum XII. The standard of this no-budget performance dropped exponentially as morning neared lunch, which I primarily attribute to the lack of recuperation time, hence disallowing the recharging of Focus Energy and Embouchure, causing the rate of EXP gain to decrease drastically and reducing the chances of a Level Up before the Japan trip. People (like me especially) were taking random breaks in the middle of their playing to rest their tired lips/take a breath, and we were all rushing/slowing like crazy at the wrong parts. There were a couple of parts where everyone's concentration failed and there was a very loud silence where there should have been a fanfare. All in all, epic fail. But I don't think many people were too concerned, and how can you blame them? We just had a (relatively) good concert two days ago!

After OH and weighing/measuring of instruments we went for batch lunch, then caught a movie. The movie was at 4:00 PM, so we spent about 45 minutes loitering around in J8 (and disgracing RI in one particular *ahemahsamuelemahem* case) and chit-chatting about random things.

Ironman (or the Fe-male, geddit?) isn't as great as I thought it would be. Sure, the effects and CGI are all superb, the acting is okay and the funny parts are funny, but the plot is a little optimistic when it comes to plausibility and realism, especially at the part where Tony Stark suddenly unspokenly collaborates with the other guy to build his prototype suit, while he apparently produced the design out of nowhere.

Well, the movie watching also marked the very first time I ever went with friends to a movie. Yeah I know, I'm a no-life, late-developer etc, whatever.

Stayed on in J8 to have dinner with my family and do some weekend shopping. My dad bought this cool camera which has a resolution nearly five times my phone camera resolution, so I'm hoping that I can bring it to Japan and snap some better shots.

Kay, lousy quality pictures of Prometheum/OH coming right up.
