omg Investiture brought back so many memories T.T

Batch songs were of a VERY mixed standard, with some surprises and some disappointments. Shan't comment.

I remember when we had our "graduating" Investiture last year, our then-J1 seniors were in the band room too, and later in the AVT, watching us as we performed our pieces. Were they feeling the same as we did, with apprehension as we showed our standard, fear for what the band is to become in the next few years, but also pride at how far each of us has come?

will we think about tomorrow
like we think about now
can we survive it out there
can we make it somehow?
I guess I thought
that this would never end
And suddenly
it's like we're women and men

As usual, my thoughts turn to my batch. It is selfish of me, I know, to want to revisit our Sec 4 days when we all have so much to look forward to. We have long since transformed from bandmates and batchmates to classmates and schoolmates, mingling in each others' circles of work and play.

will the past be a shadow
that will follow us round
will these memories fade
when I leave this town
I keep, I keep thinking
that it's not goodbye
keep on thinking
it's a time to fly

And as I sit on the padded steps of the band room, watching RIMB - my juniors - in their handover proceedings, it seems like not so long ago that I was in one of those chairs too, clarinet in hand, surrounded by batchmates, playing our farewells to the band...

as we go on
we remember
all the times we
had together

Investiture'09 ends in LT2. The band goes to fall in as the new leaders (congratulations Joseph, Danial, and Kenneth on top three) take charge. We file out, already deciding where to go for lunch, and whether we have enough time to get back before RWinds starts.

Someone thinks that there is a komodo dragon hiding in a hole in the hill where the back gate is situated.

Some of us burst into a song about the electromagnetic spectrum - after all, it's just a name.

Much poking and prodding ensues.

and as our lives change
come whatever
we will still be
friends forever

Okay this is creepy. If you look above the hat lying on the floor, you will see a vague shape of a figure standing above it...

Did I mention that ACRONYM rocks?
