String concert was a new experience I guess, but not really that special when it came down to the actual playing. For me at least.

I won't go down to the details of the whole thing, but it started at 10:40 AM when we got officially dismissed.

Yeah so after some pizza it was time to board the bus and set off. The next few hours were full of bridge, rehearsing, and stoning. I learnt how to play Hearts (yes I know I'm deprived), but as with all card games, I only find it fun and playable when everyone plays intelligently.

And a few pics:

The concert itself (i.e. the two songs we played) was so-so. The Rimsky piece still was kinda unpracticed on my part, and yeah movement one was probably not note-correct, not together, and not with the rest of the orchestra. Movement two was okay, movement three was fun XD - coda had same melody as movement one except without the Solo marking.

Lord of the Rings was even more fun XDXD. The music rocks IMO, and many parts I thought managed to capture the appropriate atmosphere the composer wanted to create.

And all our soloists were great - from horns to clarinets to oboes to flutes to any I missed out. I especially liked the flute/clarinet LOTR duet :).

I suppose that concludes the Fellowship of the Strings.
