02 October 2010 ~ four hundred and seventy nine

Okay I know and acknowledge that the practice of reviewing grades after the exam is generally frowned upon. Either in conversation, MSN... or blogs. But I'm going to do this anyway. Hope not to come off in the wrong way.

I created these charts in the post-CT2 period, here, to track my own progress. It's only fitting that I add in my penultimate results for this JC education, to take a look at the trend.

In that same post linked above, I stated my Prelim goals of getting three As and a pass for Econs. I don't think I really believed that I could do it, especially with the demoralizing U for Chem and the constant failing of Econs. I remember posting this on Facebook in a moment of confusion:

Yeah, I was really rather depressed about it at that point in time, and also about other subjects. Overall, CT2 was my worst exam in most ways possible.

Prelims, on the other hand, has been my best. Yeah, my class has gotten back everything already.

Physics (A) Chemistry (A) Mathematics (A) Economics (C) General Paper (B)

*edited on 6th Oct 10, AFTER moderation
**Econs actually 52% and C due to moderation, but for sakes of continuity of the graph and table I put 57% and C

It marks a few significant things:
Three As.
Going from a U in Chemistry in CT2 to an A now; my first Chemistry A.
Econs for the first time >50%.

Succinctly, I am really, REALLY happy. It's not often that I manage to achieve my goals... but this is one precious moment where hard work and a measure of perseverance has paid off.

It's not the end of the road (it's NEVER the end of the road), so must not get complacent. That was my downfall in general for CT1 and CT2 this year: letting my grades slip for the subjects I didn't really like. A-levels are in a month. Time to start work again. Good grades will not last erosion by slackness.

And I can spot areas in my exam scripts that need improving. Casualties are the Physics and Chemistry MCQs, both of which I was immensely dissatisfied for. Also GP essay and Econs on the whole.

To any readers who've been through the same Prelims; if you satisfied yourself, congratulations. If you didn't, don't give up. There's still time left to work for what you want, and look at me: if a U can become an A, there really isn't anything that is impossible.

SO JIAYOU EVERYONE :D:D:D
