Christmas karma.

I was panicking because before the SI "platoon" BBQ I hadn't done proper preparation for the gift exchange. I actually should have gone out to buy something, but I forgot >< so I was looking around the house for spare presents. Couldn't find anything worth giving, so I decided to give away something that I had bought in the UK for myself. I must say I was loath to part with it, but I suppose that was punishment for not preparing properly.

In giving away this present of mine, chance so happened in the exchange that I got a new wallet. Only upon getting it did I realize that I needed a new one.

Parting with something that I really didn't want to part with kind of came back on itself by giving me something that I needed. The Christmas spirit indeed; giving and receiving. The small and simple act of giving something can sometimes surprise you by reciprocating something to you in an unexpected way.

I won't ever drink from my orange Tigger mug again, but I got a nice looking wallet that does not have a gaping hole in the coin pocket, unlike my former one.

So give and be merry this Christmas!!

doesn't feel much different from eighteen.

Last year this time I had just enlisted, training and being indoctrinated and yes suffering too on Pulau Tekong. Next year this time I will be liberated.

For now, let it just mark where the glass is half empty.

It was touching to watch the graduation parade for the SCTs today. Every move they made, command they executed hearkened back to myself, three short months ago.

Very appropriate song at the end. At the words "every day I'm shufflin'" at least 1/3rd of the parade square began to dance.

Love this song. I hated the Black Eyed Peas techno remix, but this one really sounds out as an anthem of happy endings, romantic finale, and celebratory closure.
